Login Issue

Some users are having issues with logging in and purchasing items. The issue is related to a security patch we applied to Joomla (the system this site is built on) shortly before PSP2013.

Symptoms

This is the issue you are facing if you see any of the following symptoms:

  1. You try to log on using the "My Account" section. You do not see an error message and you are returned to the same page. However, when you look at the "My Account" section you still see the username and password boxes and a login button, rather than the "Hi <your name>," greeting.
  2. You are trying to book a pitch and have entered all the details but, right at the end, the site drops you back to either the store front or the PSP home page. 
  3. Neither the "Forgot your password?" or the "Forgot your username?" link works.

Workaround

We believe this issue relates to cookies; we do not have a fix we can apply to the site, but clearing your browser cache once should permanently resolve it on your PC. If you are not sure how to clear your cache, we have given instructions for common browsers below.

Google Chrome

These instructions are written for v30. Most other versions of Chrome will be similar but some details may vary.

  1. Click on the menu button to the right of the address bar and select "History" from the drop-down menu.
  2. In the new page, click on "Clear browsing data..."
  3. In the "Clear browsing data" window, ensure that at least "Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data" and "Empty the cache" are checked.
  4. Click on "Clear browsing data".
  5. When the process has finished, close Chrome down completely and try logging in to www.peakstarparty.co.uk again.

Internet Explorer

These instructions are written for v10. Most other versions of IE will be similar but some details may vary.

  1. Click on the settings button (cog icon) to the right of the address bar and select "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu.
  2. In the "internet Options" window, click on "Delete..." in the "Browsing history" section about half way down.
  3. In the "Delete Browsing History" window, ensure that at least "Temporary Internet files and website filed" and "Cookies and website data" are checked.
  4. Click on "Delete".
  5. When the process has finished, close IE down completely and try logging in to www.peakstarparty.co.uk again.

Experimenting

If you are of a technical orientation and are willing to experiment, we would love to hear if you find a neater way around this issue. Having run the above workaround, we are not able to replicate the issue so we cannot be any more clever than this!
